Buying and selling artwork on the internet has become a popular trend among artists as well as buyers.
Nerang artist Angela Hawkey is doing just that and, at the same time, she is taking the art world by storm.
The 26-year-old paints a variety of themes - from seascapes in cool, calming colours to skylines in rich, vibrant tones.
"I take photos when I'm on holidays for inspiration but a lot of my work comes from my imagination," said Angela.
"I love texture and colours such as blues and reds - they make me feel good." |
Angela completed a graphic design course and her artwork has now become a full-time job.
She receives interest from across Australia as well as overseas.
"eBay is my bread and butter," she laughs.
"I didn't really think you could make money from art - it's happened by fluke really.
"It's pretty exciting for me, though, when people write to tell that they've been inspired by my work." |
Angela is also commissioned by interior designers to create artwork for homes and it is a field she hopes to explore further.
However, at the moment Angela is preparing for motherhood. And, if family history is anything to go by, there is a good chance her child will also inherit the artistic gene.
"My grandfather is an artist and he gave me a few lessons when I was young," explained Angela.
"My nana and mum also painted and my sister paints, so it's very much in the family." |
